Sherrock and Hyde victorious at the British Open

The 'Queen of the Palace' Fallon Sherrock secures a spot at the 2022 WDF World Championships by taking the British Open title, whilst Scotland's Lorraine Hyde claims her first WDF ranking title at the British Classic.

The weekend-long event commenced with the WDF Silver-graded British Classic, with Northern Ireland's Denise Cassidy contesting the final against Hyde.


Both players had strong runs into the final, with Hyde taking wins over Jo Rolls, Anca Zijlstra, Kirsty Hutchinson before a 4-1 win over Anastasia Dobromyslova in the semi-finals.


Cassidy, the 1998 WDF Europe Cup Singles Champion's last title win came back in 2010 at the Northern Ireland Open. She registered wins over Zoe Holland, Julie Thompson, Rhian O'Sullivan and Australia's Corrine Hammond, who had earlier beaten Sherrock to make the semi-finals.


Hyde dominated the final. winning the final 5-1 and catapulting herself into the WDF World top 16.


The headline event went to Sherrock, winning the Gold-ranked British Open, beating her pairs partner Corrine Hammond 5-2 in the final, in a repeat of the previous days' quarter-final.


Sherrock's route to victory included wins over Donna Gleed, Julie Thompson, Roz Bulmer before white-washing Laura Turner in the semi-finals, whilst Hammond overcame challenges from Jo Rolls, Anca Zijlstra, Kirsty Hutchinson and a closely run semi-final over Sweden's Vicky Pruim.


The winner of two-BDO Majors and former World Championship Runner-Up Sherrock has confirmed her inclusion in January's World Championships at Lakeside, whilst Hammond's efforts have seen her climb the world rankings and is back in to the top 16.
