Sherrock and Hedman take top honours at the England Open in Selsey

The first WDF ranked tournament since March 2020 was played this weekend as England Darts hosted their prestigious England Open back on the south coast.

Friday saw the England National Singles play down to the semi-finals, with Fallon Sherrock, Anastasia Dobromyslova, Beau Greaves and Laura Turner all progressing to Sunday's live-streamed finals.

The main event, the Gold-ranked England Open, commenced on Saturday, with both Sherrock and Dobromyslova reaching the semi-final stages once again, with Deta Hedman and Jo Clements completing the line-up.

Sunday's live-streamed finals saw Sherrock take a 4-3 win over Turner, whilst Dobromyslova progressed to the final following the withdrawal of Greaves for personal reasons, to set up a repeat of the 2018 Women's England National Singles final.

It was Sherrock who prevailed in the final against the three-time World Champion, taking the final 5 legs to 3, cementing her place at the top of the UK and Ireland WDF Ranking table.

Sherrock was unable to repeat her earlier success in the England Open Semi-Finals as she succumbed to a strong performance from England's Hedman 5-2.

The second semi-final saw Dobromyslova back to winning ways as she edged out Lancashire's Jo Clements 5-4 in a nail-biting final leg, where experienced prevailed to ensure a second final appearance of the weekend for 'From Russia with Love'.

11 years since they last met in the England Open final, where Dobromyslova emerged victorious, the victory this time went the way of Hedman, as she took the title and a place in the 2022 WDF World Championships with a 6-2 win.

The weekend has seen some changes to the overall ranking table - Hedman remains in top spot, with Sherrock moving up into second. Dobromyslova is back in the top eight, at number six; with only a few moths to go, the race is on for the 2022 World Championships.

The next Gold event, which will see another player claim an automatic spot at the 2022 WDF World Championships will be the Denmark Open in Esbjerg from 1st-3rd October. Full information on the WDF ranking events can be found at www.dartswdf.com
