Updated: Nov 19, 2021

The 32nd Malta International Open saw Lincolnshire captain Paula Jacklin emerge victorious with a 5-4 over up and coming Italian star Aurora Fochesato in the final.

Jacklin had overcome challenges from Germany's Britta Gabirel in the quarter-finals before facing England's Amanda Harwood in the semi-final.

Italian women's champion, Fochesato knocked out the number 4 seed, Krisztina Czombok 4-3 in her quarter-final match before knocking out the 2019 Malta Open Champion Jo Locke in the semi-finals by the same scoreline.

15-year old Fochesato, who was playing in her first WDF ranked tournament, missed match darts against Jacklin, before the more experienced player held her nerve to see out the match and claim her first ranking title of 2021.

As the table shapes up for places at the Women's World Championships at Lakeside in January, Jacklin has secured valuable points which sees her leapfrog into World Number 10 position.
