Harper dominant at the John Wilkie Memorial

Wendy Harper won her first WDF ranking titles of 2021 at the John Wilkie Memorial in the Hutt Valley, New Zealand.

The women's’ competition saw Wendy Harper win her eighth career WDF ranking title and rise to eleventh in the main ranking table.

Harper met Tina Osborne in the final, in their third meeting of the year. Former dairy farmer Harper had won the previous two (5-2 North Island Masters final, 3-0 Canterbury Open quarter-final), and this meeting was no different as she ran out a comfortable 5-0 victor.

Harper, who lost out in the final of the recent New Zealand Masters, was in dominant form throughout, recording wins over Mihi Reid, Vani Bakani and Maryanne Teinaki to the loss of just four legs.

For Osborne, wins over Polly Luke, Chrissie Hay and Lee Wright ensured that she achieved her best result of the year to claim a spot at the World Masters alongside Harper.

The next WDF ranking event scheduled to take place in New Zealand will be the bronze-ranked New Zealand Open on August 4.
