Lisa Ashton, the sole female on the PDC ProTour following her success at PDC Q-School last year, is on home ground for the first PDC Super Series as it heads to her town of Bolton.
Ashton has had mixed successes on the PDC tour, with an impressive haul of wins in 2020 so far over the likes of Rob Cross, Michael Smith and Dimitri Van Den Bergh, Ashton's best standing in the Player's Championship is the last 16.
The four-time Women's World Champion is leading the way for Women looking to make their mark on a sport which is still dominated by her male compatriots, although they are all well aware of the threat she poses on the oche.
Ashton received high praise from Michael Smith in his post-match interview at the 2020 Grand Slam, stating that 'she [Lisa] could play darts better than anyone of us here and when she's on, she's on". Smith went on the say he believes that "she [Lisa] is the best ever women's darts player, the way she plays, the way she does it. She can compete with anyone. She's amazing and I think no one can play like she can".
The ProTour is the toughest tour darts has to offer, and Ashton is relishing the opportunity of getting back on the oche to face the best players on the planet.
