ANASTASIA DOBROMYSLOVA

#IWD2021

In 2008, Anastasia Dobromyslova became the first player to defeat Trina Gulliver at the Women's World Championships, who was vying for an eighth consecutive title.

2008 also saw Dobromyslova make more headlines as she secured a place in the UK Open via the qualifiers, where she narrowly lost 6-5 to Robert Thornton in the opening round.

Dobromyslova played for two years on the PDC circuit, becoming the second female to play in the PDC World Championships after Gayl King in 2001. She notably had her first televised victory over Vincent Van Der Voort in the 2009 Grand Slam, beating the Dutchman 5-4, before returning to the BDO in 2011.

'From Russia with Love' went on the win two more World Championships in 2012 and 2013 and remains the youngest player to have claimed the title.

The 2019 PDC World Championships saw Dobromyslova return as a qualifier alongside Lisa Ashton. A pioneer of the sport, Dobromyslova has regularly spoken out about the challenges women in the sport face and continue to face.
